My mom signed me up for gymnastic lessons when I was four-years-old, and I immediately loved it.

I am naturally flexible and have great balance.

I showed a natural aptitude for the sport. It wasn’t long before I was spending five days a week at the gym and competing for the team. We traveled all over the country for gymnastic’s meets. My schedule and workouts were so demanding, I never needed to be concerned by what I ate. For the sake of energy levels and strength, I followed a very healthy diet. I ate lots of fruits, vegetables and lean proteins. I continued to train and compete in gymnastics throughout high school and college. Once I graduated and joined the workforce, my life changed drastically. I no longer had the time or opportunity to spend five hours at the gym everyday. I struggled to figure out a way to remain healthy and fit. I tried joining a local fitness center, but was bored with the treadmills and ellipticals. I signed up for various group fitness classes, such as pilates and yoga, but they simply weren’t challenging enough. I finally started working out on my own, at home. I bought myself a folding mat, and I now work on my various gymnastic skills nearly every day. Although I’m no longer training to complete, I enjoy maintaining my abilities. I also burn a ton of calories and keep my muscles extremely strong and toned. Handstands, walkovers, aerial cartwheels, back handsprings and back tucks are demanding exercises that work all different muscles. My workouts keep me flexible, help with balance and prevent weight gain.
