Early this year, I was assigned to go abroad to represent my organization at a yearly conference.

Still, at the same time, I had moved to a new house and was still getting accustomed to the environment.

Since I had a baby in the house, having my air conditioning system functioning was the priority before I traveled. I googled the HVAC companies in the area and called the first HVAC company that showed up. I had no time to do the due diligence of the cooling and heating provider. I called them, and they promised to send an a/c repairman with the new HVAC the following day. The repairman arrived on time as scheduled for the air conditioner install. Since I did not know much about the air conditioning business, I could not tell whether the installation was up to standard. The technician also brought documents for the homeowner solutions cover that was part of the service. Everything was okay till two days later when the furnace/heater shut down. I tried to switch off the thermostat and turn on again, but nothing changed. The air quality changed drastically, calling for a need to get furnace/heater repair. I tried to contact the provider, but their lines were unreachable. Luckily, a neighbor helped, got me a referral to an air conditioning professional he knows. He arrived at my house in an hour to review the system. He noted the fake documentation and also realized that the HVAC was secondhand and not in good shape. The air filter was also wrongly placed. These were online scammers who were lying their way into the cooling industry. I had to engage a new contractor after the repair by following the proper process.
