I was pretty happy upon buying a new house with my wife, but we came to realize there were some issues.
- I don’t even know how the ductwork system passed inspection, but somehow there was no mention of damage to the ductwork.
I didn’t know there were any problems at all with the HVAC system until we saw we had expensive energy bills when using the cooling system. I thought that maybe the cooling system was too outdated and needed to be replaced. Fortunately, that didn’t have to be done, but we did have to take care of the damage to the ductwork system. There were a couple of rips and tears in the ductwork system and we had an HVAC professional replace those sections of ductwork. He also did a ductwork cleaning and ductwork sealing which improved the efficiency of the HVAC system substantially. I honestly wasn’t able to believe that the energy bills were cut in half, so it definitely was important to take care of that repair work on the ductwork. I just hope that I don’t have any serious issues anytime soon after paying all that money to have everything fixed. I remember speaking with the HVAC professional about what HVAC I might go for in the future and he said I should keep my eye on the ductless mini splits. He said if I had the ambition, I could even install one of the DIY models on my own. I was surprised to hear that, but that’s something I might think about if I’m hurting for money down the road.
