I honestly told our son at least 50 times to change the air filter each month in his HVAC system.
- He must have had cotton in his ears because he didn’t listen.
Because of this, his HVAC system ended up shutting down. He refused to believe it was the air filter that caused the breakdown until I paid for the HVAC technician to come out. The HVAC professional stressed to my son how crucial it was to change the air filter regularly. I thought he would have learned his lesson, but then he did something else that was completely foolish, he didn’t make sure to have his heating system tuned up for the winter season. Again, this was something I told him he needed to do. He agreed that HVAC maintenance was important, but did he call to have it done, no! So he came crying to me when his heating system broke down in the midst of the winter. I told him if he had gotten his tune-up, this never would have happened. Then he asked if the landlord was supposed to cover those things. I told him technically he was correct and the landlord should have had that done, but he didn’t. But the prior issues with the lack of air filter changes, I told him that was definitely on him. Fortunately he didn’t have to pay for the HVAC repair to the furnace. He came over to stay back at home while he was waiting for the repair and I told him he had to be more responsible with things like this.
