I make sure to finish the full bottle of water by the conclusion of the workout.

I am not good at drinking sufficient water. When I was a kid, my mom and dad’s was outfitted with a water well. The water was full of iron and all sorts of minerals. It was orange in color, had a rotten egg smell and tasted terrible. At the time, bottled water wasn’t popular. I never started the habit of drinking water. Now as an adult, this has created some concerns for me. I often become so dehydrated that I deal with severe headaches. My head pounds so badly that I have no choice but to lie down with an ice pack on my forehead. I can suffer from chills, fever and have even passed out. I also get muscle cramps in my calves that are most likely caused by straining my muscles without replenishing my body with water. I’ve made an effort to be better about drinking water. I purchased a good quality water bottle, and I carry it with me throughout the day. Unfortunately, I most often neglect to sip from it. I’ve had to add water breaks into my workout routine. I spend around an hour exercising every day. I play music for motivation and change up the type of exercise at the end of each song. I now make a point to take a sip of water every time the song changes. I make sure to finish the full bottle of water by the conclusion of the workout. Because of this habit, I sometimes need to refill the bottle. Even if I don’t drink water for the rest of the day, at least I got that good start. Drinking water during the workout has helped to reduce some of the negative side-effects of dehydration.
