I was working in the yard, trying to get my new BBQ built.

My wife had taken the kids shopping for new school clothes.

There is nothing better than having something to work at and no one to bother you. I smiled, thinking about this, when I heard a boom. Next thing I knew, the house shook and then it exploded. I took cover in the garage, to get away from the flying wood and debris. I didn’t know if I wanted to scream or just watch what was happening. I pulled my phone from my pocket and I called the fire company. I told them that my house just exploded. I knew I had been working on the furnace earlier, and I worried that I had done something wrong. All I did was change the air filter. I also looked at the pilot light to make sure it was lit. I remembered turning on the gas, knowing that I would soon need to use the furnace at night. Did I leave the gas on? Was the pilot lit? I had all different questions going through my mind. When the fire company arrived, they put out the fire and then they told me about the furnace. Apparently there was a buildup of gas, and when the furnace ignited, it blew up. I didn’t even know that could happen. I still wondered if it was my fault, but I didn’t say anything. My wife was scared about what we would do, when she came home, and everyone was crying. I told her that it was a fantastic explosion.
