` When I found out I was getting a Christmas bonus at work, I was over-the-moon excited.
I couldn’t believe that I was getting a bonus.
This was the first time this had happened. When they told me how big my bonus was going to be, I made all of these big plans. I was going to have radiant heated flooring installed in the bathrooms and the living room. The heating was going to be a Christmas present to my wife. I wanted to tell her about the bonus and the radiant heating, but I also wanted it to be a surprise for her. She had been talking about radiant heated flooring, for about three years now. She thought it would be something that would give more equity to the house. It would feel great on the feet when we got out of the shower. She also said that radiant heating was something she had dreamed of since she had experienced it in her uncle’s house. For the first time since we had been married, I was going to be able to give her exactly what she wanted, as a Christmas present. I went to the HVAC company and I talked to them about radiant heating. While my wife was at work, they came to the house and did all of the measuring and we made the plans. When I got my bonus, I almost cried. They had taken so much out of my check that I could barely afford to buy the radiant heated flooring. At least I thought I was getting a big bonus, even if it only covered my wife’s Christmas present.
