My wifey and I were headed out to see the kids and the grandkids for Christmas.

All of us checked in our bags and made our way to the security checkpoint. All of us had a snack and a drink at the bar. All of us were getting ready to board the plane, when someone came over the loudspeaker to tell everyone that the flight was not going to be on time. My wifey and I have flown hundreds of times and it is not too surprising for a plane to be delayed. I was surprised to see the plane outside, because normally delays are due to a late arrival. The flight attendant told everyone that the flight would be delayed for about half an hour. After the 30 minutes were over, the flight attendant told everyone the delay would be extended a bit. The heating plan on the plane was malfunctioning and they could not take off until the heating plan repair could take place. The temperature outside is frigid and the heating plan is necessary to keep the plane at a moderate temperature. Since the heating component could not be repaired, all of our bags and suitcases needed to be taken back off the plane. The heating problem would result in this plane being left behind in the hangar and we would have to be put on a different flight. All of us had to wait until the next morning to get in the air. At least the airline refunded our tickets and awarded us 10,000 frequent flyer miles for our trouble.
