I never expected to end up in this situation I am in.
I was out to have a little fun, even though most people wouldn’t think of it as fun.
When I woke up after hours of drinking, I realized I had gone into a recruiting office and joined the Navy. Now, I am on a floating city with over a thousand other men and women. I’m not the kind of person who enjoys swimming or any other water sport. I am a land dweller. I couldn’t understand what I was thinking when I chose the Navy. The sober me would have never made this mood. I was still young, and I had just received my certification in HVAC. I had planned on joining my uncle’s HVAC company, but that was blown. I’m sure the Navy would not let me loose just because I had a job. I got on the ship and they immediately put me to work. There was a problem with the HVAC system onboard. The humidity below deck was building, and it had to be diagnosed and repaired. There was me and three other HVAC technicians aboard. Together, we found the problem in the system and went to work. The HVAC system was automated and two of us had all the computer knowledge needed to work on the new system. Once the humidity levels were lowered and the temperature was coming down, we breathed a sigh of relief. It was nice to have a cabin for the four of us. They gave us special treatment since we kept the ship safe and comfortable. I was kind of glad of my choice, even if I made it out of a time of less than sobriety.
