The duct sealing procedure was done in a couple of hours
After we got our house, Terek and I didn’t pay enough attention to the means of temperature control. We should have hired a licensed HVAC dealer to look everything over. Terek and I paid for a home inspection and there was nothing in the report to indicate any concerns with the heating and ac system. The a/c and heating system appeared to be quite modern and in easily great shape, but sadly, a home inspector isn’t qualified to evaluate an HVAC system. He doesn’t have the know how, experience or tools to complete thorough testing of efficiency or capacity. Shortly after Terek and I moved in, the summer time heat and humidity arrived. Terek and I discovered that the a/c couldn’t keep up, then lowering the temperature control simply forced the cooling system to run all the time. The home still felt boiling and wet like, and our bi-weekly electric bills were harshly high. When the Winter time season brought cold temperatures down into the negative digits, the two of us had the same problems with the heating device. It seemed to operate all the time and yet insufficient heat was coming from the vents. Our home was chilly chilly and the bi-weekly heating bills were draining our finances. I finally contacted a certified HVAC supplier for maintenance. He diagnosed the duct system and found that a large portion of our heated and cooled air was escaping for leaks at the seams and small holes. The duct sealing procedure was done in a couple of hours. The savings on our energy expenses has paid for the service within several years. It would have been easily helpful to have been aware of the duct troubles before the two of us bought the house.
