I have a peripheral nerve condition that makes me look love I am cold all of the time; As a result, I almost regularly have goosebumps on my arms; People are regularly offering me sweatshirts, blankets, & other covers to hot me up.
I politely decline.
If I have to after that I explain my medical condition. Most people are nice & understanding. However my Grandma doesn’t get it. She regularly turners the heating system up super high whenever I visit. She is not the only 1 who has done this. Others have too. When I tell them I am in fact hot they turn the heating system back down for me. My Grandma, on the other hand, keeps the heating system cranked up high whenever I visit her. I have explained my medical issues & asked that the temperature control be set to around 68 degrees. But Grandma keeps the temperature control at at least 84 degrees. For a while I thought it might just be because she likes the temperature turned up herself. But when I visit unannounced my Grandma gets up & promptly turns up the heat as soon as she sees my goosebumps, however no amount of talking will convince her that I am not cold. Oh well, you win some & you lose some. I love my Grandma & I will keep on going to see her no matter what. She just wants to make sure everyone is hot in her lake house & I can’t fault her for that. I can, however, cool down when I get to my own house. I keep my temperature control close to 77 degrees.
