I was really proud when I finally was able to buy a nice house with a fancy central HVAC system.
There were no issues with the ductwork and the HVAC system worked beautifully.
This was a step up for my family because we never had a central HVAC system before. All we had was a couple of gas furnaces before that were not connected to ductwork and some window A/C units to remain cool in the summer months. Well, everybody was really pleased about our home, except for our youngest daughter who was scared at night. She kept wanting to sleep in the bed with my wife and I at night. Whenever we would ask her to go sleep in her own room, she would come up with some crazy excuse to stay with us. Finally, we had to ask her what was really going on and why she didn’t want to go to her room. She explained that she thought there was a monster in her room. She said that she always heard this strange breathing sound like a dragon and she didn’t know where it was coming from. I realized that it had to be the HVAC system that was bothering her since she never heard those sounds before. I had to explain to her that the noises that were coming from the ductwork were only the heating system engaging and pushing heated air into all of our rooms. When she realized that was how we kept the house warm, she was able to relax and didn’t mind sleeping in her own bed any longer.
