I was in the laundry room trying to catch up on our laundry when I heard someone asking if there was anyone home? I was half afraid to answer back, since I don’t care about having strangers in our house, even though she was already inside.
I looked at the calendar in the home office & realized the Heating, Ventilation & A/C supplier was to be there this week to check on the air conditioner unit.
I regularly had them inspect the A/C unit in late April, so every one of us had it running when summer time turned on its heat. Had I remembered the date, I would not have been so surprised to hear someone in our house, even though I now knew it was just the Heating, Ventilation & A/C supplier. I walked into the home office & apologized for not hearing the doorbell. She said the door was open, & she thought it would be best if she just called out. She didn’t guess almost everyone would be gone & leave a door wide open. The Heating, Ventilation & A/C supplier told myself and others she had seen the air conditioner unit when she came in, so she would just let himself out & do her job. When she finished inspecting the A/C unit, she rang the doorbell & this time I was ready for him. I let him in & gave him a glass of iced root beer as every one of us chose to go over the service sheet. She said she found a problem with the fan motor, even though she had a spare one in the service van & just changed it out. I’m glad I had an Heating, Ventilation & A/C supplier who was honest, or I could have been in big trouble for not locking the screen door.
