If you want to help the air flow in your home with your central heating and air conditioning system here is a little trick on how to do this.

I discovered this some years ago and it really works.

That is to close one air vent in a room that you are not using. By doing this it will make the heating or air conditioning flow harder to the other opened air vents in the house. It is a way to get better air flow and also save a little on energy use because your home will be cooled or heated a lot quicker. Also whatever you set the thermostat temperature at will be reached and stay there longer so the central heating and air conditioning system does not have to run as often on those very cold or very hot days! It really helps a lot. I found out about this little trick from a heating and air conditioning specialist that I had in the old town I lived in about 20 years ago. They gave me this little tip to improve my air flow and save on energy. At first I remember thinking this guy was nuts, but I gave it a try and it really worked. So ever since that day I do this all the time now. If you do not have a room in your house that you don’t use that has an air vent, what you do then is pick a room that you are not going to be in for a while. Then trade off the air vent closings as you go along.
