The company I recently joined has this thing they call baptism by fire.

When a current HVAC tech is baptized by fire, it means that they can be requested to carry out a task solo when out on labor orders at any point while I was in their first week.

I was only several weeks old at the company when all of us were called out for a labor order. I did not assume what the order was until all of us got to talk to the client at her house. The client was actually irate about her furnace. She stated that it had been acting up, plus so did her digital control unit. She had just gotten the current component a year ago after replacing it with the old geo heat pump. My manager announced that I would be running heating repair solo. This meant that I would lead the operation, however I could delegate if I wished. I started by inspecting the heating component plus then delegated the air duct assessment to the other junior HVAC serviceman. They needed to do duct sealing to stop the waste of energy. I believe that this far, I assume the heating industry plus understand the current heating technology. I got confident plus executed the required heating repairs. The heating company helped supply the components for updatement. I had learn how to give home services plus had shadowed some experts, but doing it in person was not as straightforward. I ran point on the whole process until the client was glad about the restored indoor comfort. When all of us finished the task, my boss handed myself and others a document while I was in the truck. The document indicated my score in the assessment. I had passed with flying colors.
