Hurricane Ian was quite a doozy for our state. It left a path of destruction, but there were quite a few communities who were spared extensive damage. Some communities were almost entirely missed by the storm. Ours fell somewhere in the middle. It is true that we did take some damage and flooding from the winds and the rain, but nobody lost their life. In any case, I have an opportunity to make quite a few extra dollars helping out the community with cleaning up the mess. When it comes to my own property, I am quite relieved that I did not take any major damage. Sure, there’s all sorts of debris all over my yard, and a very big and thick tree branch nearly slammed right into the condenser unit of my air conditioner, but luckily it just missed it! Apart from cleaning up my own yard, I’m going to be working for my dad’s heating and air conditioning company. I’ll be helping his clients with their HVAC emergencies as we clean up after the storm. Though I have a different job these days, my dad has enlisted my help at his HVAC business for many years now. It’s quite a lucrative business for him, and the time after a hurricane is one of the busiest throughout the year. I also have another friend who runs a company that goes around cleaning up after storms as well. He’s going to need help from me clearing out tree branches off the road, among other things. In short, there’s a lot of work to be done after hurricane Ian, but there’s a lot of money to make as well!
