If I told you all the various things that I’ve tried in my life, you probably wouldn’t believe me.
I’ve had such a widely varied life trying all sorts of crazy jobs and traveling all over the place. One of my main passions, for example, has always been volleyball, and I was a professional volleyball player for a few years. However, when I hit the big 4-0h, I decided that perhaps it was time to settle down a bit and try a more normal life. I went back home and started working for a heating and air conditioning company. Picking this job was just as arbitrary as it was deliberate, if that makes any sense. I saw an ad for help wanted at the HVAC company, and I shrugged and thought that it would be useful to learn more about HVAC technology. Since then, I’ve really enjoyed helping repair and troubleshoot all sorts of HVAC issues for our customers. It really has been an educational experience, and I feel almost confident enough to maintain my own HVAC system entirely! One of the things I enjoy helping out customers with is figuring out their new smart thermostats. Many of the older customers seem to have an aversion to advanced technology. I consider it a particularly rewarding challenge to try and show them just how simple and convenient a smart thermostat can be and how much it could save them on energy costs, despite their misgivings. Perhaps later on in life, when I’m closer to retirement age, I will resume traveling the world, though I will be taking it a little easier this time. In the interim, I’m really enjoying life as an HVAC technician!
