Apparently when you look for nursery furniture it has to be cheap and also white.

I am about to have a son and I don’t want white furniture.

I don’t want a pressboard, MDF, or anything else that is soft, easily scratchable wood. I also want something that is practical for more than a few years. I need a dresser that is wide enough to change a baby on but also store things for an older kid. I want a bookcase that doesn’t have glass or removable shelves. It needs to be easily accessed for little kids but store taller books that an older kid might like. It has been a nightmare finding furniture that isn’t so baby-like and cheap. I found a custom furniture builder that does quality builds done right. I said nursery furniture and not white. The guy has done a lot of drawings for me to find exactly what I want. He is even going to build me a piece for my changing table that can be removed later on. So while I have a baby it will be a big piece that sits on top of the dresser to hold the changing pad. Once my baby is older, out comes the piece and it will just be a deeper dresser. What can go wrong with that? It is practical and functional. I now can use this piece of furniture for many years down the road rather than just a couple. I am spending more money on it because of it.
