I guess I’m the type of person who is pretty heavily guarded.

I don’t go out into the world and make a million friends willy-nilly.

I like to keep my friends extremely close and carefully chosen. This is why I am even more paranoid and cautious when it comes to dating people. I don’t want to let just anyone into my life when they are inevitably going to cause me emotional suffering down the road. As such, I constantly look for red flags and potential downfalls with everybody who I date. Recently, I’ve been trying to figure out what is wrong with the newest man in my life. Everything seemed completely perfect and I was confused about his flawless personality… Until I saw him adjusting his thermostat. We were at his house when I noticed that the indoor air temperature seems to change a lot. The house wasn’t drafty or full of hot and cold patches, but the centralized air temperature was fluctuating by a few degrees in each direction. It took me awhile to realize that my date was consistently visiting the thermostat or using his smart temperature control application to adjust the indoor air temperature. Over the course of an hour I swear that he changed the indoor air temperature about 10 times. I could basically hear his forced air furnace groaning in the background every time he stood up to visit the thermostat again. It was obvious that he has a bit of an air quality obsession. Unfortunately, I know that this is going to lead to high energy bills and HVAC breakdowns in the future. I’m not happy about his air quality choices and I have decided to sever ties since observing his deplorable thermostat Behavior.
