These DIY models have the prefilled refrigerant so you don’t have to have a professional come out to help with the installation.
I think it’s a great idea and a very cost effective way to upgrade your HVAC system. That being said, I thought it was going to be easier to do entirely on my own. I came to the conclusion that I would at least need a team of friends to help me out, but I ended up turning to the professionals. I don’t necessarily think that my buddies and I wouldn’t be able to figure everything out, but with something as serious as an HVAC system upgrade, I didn’t want to have any issues. So I had a few HVAC workers come out and they were able to make the job look easy. It’s like I said, we could have figured it out but I wanted to make sure there were no issues in the least. When we were first able to fire up the new HVAC system, it worked beautifully. I have to admit, some of my buddies still give me a hard time about choosing to go with the professionals. They say it looked like easier work than working on car motors. I had to admit, that seemed to be the case, but I still felt a little better when I had specialized HVAC professionals telling me how everything worked and how to keep up with the regular maintenance. You basically have to clean the outdoor condenser unit once per month.
