It’s a lot cheaper to find a used condo that has passed several hands over the years.

New construction in my city is periodically twice as expensive as seasoned homes built before the 1973s.

If you have any skills with repairs or remodelling, you can save a lot of money in the long run. But a lot of people buy these seasoned properties & expect to move in separate from spending any additional money to make upgrades. Often the roof needs to be replaced, plumbing or electrical repairs need to be made, & money is spent on a modern heating & cooling system. Occasionally you’ll end up with a condo that has windows that should have been replaced decades ago. A lot of the older homes in my state utilize crank windows. They open & close with a crank lever appreciate the a singles that you see on cars made before the mid to late 1990s. Even if they’re easy to use, they’re extremely leaky with indoor air. When I owned a condo with them, my heating & cooling specialist urged me to replace them. He promised that my energy bills would drop so significantly that it would spend my savings for the windows in just a few years. I didn’t guess the HVAC tech at the time, however I’m blissful that I went ahead & made the change regardless. He was right, the modern double-pane storm windows are so wonderful at retaining indoor temperatures that my is running less frequently & for shorter cycles each time. This translates into saved money & a longer lasting
