The past three summers have been hell on the AC unit.
It barely kept up with the temperature, even when we had the AC unit set at 75 degrees. I wasn’t surprised when the machine stopped working one morning. I called the AC contractor in town and made an appointment to have a brand new machine installed. The contractor gave us a great deal on the new heat pump and AC unit. In fact, the new machine is much more energy efficient than the old machine. It saves us money every month. I didn’t expect to have any problems with the new machine for a while, so my wife and I were really surprised when we woke up last Saturday and the AC was off. I checked the thermostat batteries and I checked the fuse breaker. I checked all of the regular things that might keep the AC from working. I finally called the AC service company that installed all of the new equipment. I told them exactly what was happening. They sent a service technician the same day to evaluate our situation. Both of us were extremely thankful that we were still within the warranty on our new equipment, because one of the major components needed to be replaced. The technician told me that it was likely an error from the factory and one of the reasons why they offer the warranty for 3 years. Sometimes problems like these can occur from time to time.
