When we first bought our house, we needed to make a lot of repairs and updates.

The property had been neglected for various years and left empty for the past two years.

Fortunately, my spouse and I are both quite handy and love home improvement projects. The people I was with and I have an impressive inventory of power tools, and we’re not afraid to tackle immense jobs. The people I was with and I were thankful that the a/c, furnace and air duct simply required a little bit of professional repair, however just about everything else, including the water pipes, drainage pipes and electrical wiring needed to be updated. The people I was with and I had to tear down walls and ceilings and rip up the floors right down to the bare studs. Because we knew we’d be creating a great deal of dust and debris, we made sure to carefully cover the supply and return registers. The people I was with and I hoped to prevent contamination of the heating and cooling system. Although we started the project in the Springtime, it took us eight weeks to complete everything. The people I was with and I went through an entire Summer with no air conditioner. The people I was with and I kept the windows open to deliver natural ventilation and occasionally ran box fans. With outdoor temperatures in the high eighties and excessive humidity, the labor conditions were actually unpleasant. The people I was with and I finally obtained a window a/c for the bedroom just so that we could sleep at night. It was a relief when the weather started to cool off. However, it rapidly turned freezing enough that we started wishing we could turn up the control unit. It was a immense relief to finally clean up, get our home arranged and run the furnace.
