I am very dedicated to my health and physical fitness.

I am a vegetarian and careful about what I eat.

I avoid caffeine, processed foods, sugary snacks and saturated fats. I workout for an hour every day. Because of the extreme weather in my local area, I’m most often forced to handle my exercise regiment inside the house. I have a stationary bike, a yoga mat, a series of hand weights, jump rope and several sizes of weighted poles and balls. While there’s limited space, access to temperature control is necessary. The winters bring temperatures down to twenty below zero and up to four feet of snow. It’s impossible to dress warm enough to go for a run in those conditions. We rely on the furnace for six to eight months of the year. In the summer, the temperature climbs into the high eighties with excessive humidity. I try to workout very early in the morning, before the heat of the day, but frequently just hide in the house. Having the air conditioner running, keeping the house cool, allows for a better workout. I’m not drenched in sweat before I even begin. I’m less fatigued and able to push myself harder and longer. However, I still look forward to those rare days when we don’t need to operate either the furnace or the air conditioner. I love opening the windows and airing out the house. I’m always excited when I can go for a run or ride my bike and breathe fresh air. Whenever possible, I carry my yoga mat, jump ropes and weights outside.
