Home ownership is challenging sometimes.

As someone who’s owned a home for the past 5 years, I’ve realized that there are some things not worth compromising on.

For instance, I can opt out of garbage pickup and take my trash to the landfill myself to save me money, but I can’t opt out of HVAC servicing and tune my HVAC system myself. I made the mistake of thinking that I could control my HVAC system any way I liked and that it would run forever. It wasn’t until I experienced a broken AC unit during the summer that I realized how I couldn’t skimp out on HVAC servicing. HVAC professionals were trained to keep HVAC systems running smoothly and efficiently all year round. I didn’t want to pay seventy five dollars to have my HVAC system tuned by an HVAC professional twice per year, but I also didn’t want to pay several thousand dollars for a new HVAC system because I neglected to hire an HVAC professional in the first place. HVAC professionals were trained to find issues within HVAC systems and there was nothing I could do to find these things unless I myself became a certified HVAC professional. Since I had no interest in the latter, it was wisest for me to hire an HVAC professional to do the work for me. It’s worth paying the small amount of money to keep my AC system and furnace in tip-top shape if it means that I don’t have to do it myself.
