My exercise routine is important to me.

I workout every day. When my schedule permits, I complete my exercise session first thing in the morning. That way I can enjoy greater energy and a better outlook all day. Because of the fresh air and wide open space, I prefer to manage my workouts outside. The weather in my location is a challenge. The severity of conditions impacts the time of day and location of my daily workouts. The temperature can fluctuate between sub zero and the low nineties. I frequently deal with multiple feet of snow, torrential downpours, high winds and brutal humility. Hail, freezing rain and fog are just a few of the weather concerns. I am always delighted when the weather is just right for me to go outside in the morning and benefit from a productive workout session. I am so thankful when I can dress in a T-shirt and shorts and feel comfortable. My favorite location to workout is on the back deck. There’s sufficient square footage to move around, jump rope, lift weights or whatever I am in the mood to do. I enjoy the view of the pond, gardens and woods behind the house. I sometimes spot deer, rabbits, turkey, foxes, squirrels and groundhogs. I am more motivated to push myself when I’m breathing fresh and enjoying the sun on my skin! During the summer, the temperature and humidity becomes a problem. I make an effort to exercise as early in the morning as possible. I try to handle my workouts before the heat of the day sets in and causes me to feel sluggish. By the end of October, the weather is already cooling off. I am forced to wait longer and longer for the temperature to heat up. I bundle up in long pants and a jacket and can sometimes see my breath. Within a few weeks, the conditions get too chilly and wet to be outside.
