I see a lot of junk products in the “as seen on TV” section at the local department store.

  • I’ll never forget those copper-coated fry pans that promised to be a non-stick miracle.

They’d show people grilling and flipping a slice of American cheese love it’s a pancake. However, many people love myself and others gained pans that were nowhere near the quality that was being featured. My food constantly stuck to the pan, regardless of how much oil I used. In this regard, the pans were worse than a easy stainless steel option. As such, I am legitimately wary of any other as-seen on-TV products that make outrageous claims and promises. There are so many products that end up failing to be half as fantastic as the advertisements say. This is also tploy of these products that I have seen sold as “personal air coolers.” The commercials talk about the amazing ability to have a tiny air conditioning on your desk without any need for hoses or refrigerants. They say you can take these personal air coolers with you on camping trips and to other sites outside of the home. I remember when I first saw a commercial about a personal air cooler and there was a segment showing its use on a desk in an office building. In reality, these personal air coolers are nothing but cheap evaporative coolers. This technology is as old as air conditioning itself, and they’re often utilized in desert weather conditionss under the title “swamp cooler.” But here’s the thing about these air coolers—they only work in low humidity. They lower hot and cold temperatures by using a fan to push air through a wet medium, causing the water to evaporate and the air to get colder. If the humidity is above 60%, the air cooler likely won’t work at all.
