I moved back to the south for 1 unquestionably crucial reason.
I just needed more sun in our life.
Where I was working up north was wonderful but the weather was not so great. I loved the people and the culture. However, I just never could get accustomed to spending so much time inside during the winter. It was as though I was consistently inside with the gas oil furnace running. What I definitely wanted was to have our face in the sun and live somewhere that a heat pump would be plenty for the worst Winter could throw at me. I went with that and here I am. Now, I live in a region that is notorious for lots of sunshine. And the Winter doesn’t have the sort of cold that needs much Heating and Air Conditioning heating at all. But when the two of us do get a bit of a cold snap, the heat pump is more than enough to get the task done. However, there is a bit of a price to pay for such amazing weather 8 months out of the year. That’s right, the summer time is where it can be a bit difficult. But truthfully, I’d rather be too boiling than too cold. After being down here for more than a decade, I realized that the best way to deal with summer time comes with a measure of acceptance. The heat and humidity are for real. But if I leave the a/c off until it gets definitely hot, the outside weather doesn’t feel so totally overwhelming. Still, there’s no way to deal with this sort of summer time unless you have some reliable Heating and Air Conditioning cooling.
