I did all I could do but it ended up that I became 1 of those school graduates that ends up back home with their parents.

There’s definitely no shame in that but it did sting a bit.

Losing the first task just out of school was definitely tough. What made it tougher was the fact that it’s a position that I worked so hard to get but just couldn’t keep. I loved working in that zone controlled Heating and Air Conditioning with all our colleagues. Not only was I doing something that I loved, I was reading so much. That’s 1 of the things about working there, everyone was so willing to help me be the best I could be. When the two of us were all first sent home to our own a/c during the pandemic, I held out hope I wouldn’t be laid off. But those hopes were dashed pretty quickly as I was let go. Even though I was sharing the less that proper heating and cooling of an apartment, I just wasn’t able to afford to stay living on our own. I picked up a few online gigs for some currency but with school loans and rent, it just wasn’t feasible. My mom and dad gave me a room in the a/c of their home right off the bat. Eventually, I simply had to take them up on their kind offer. But it wasn’t so bad. Their new place has the latest in residential Heating and Air Conditioning and the guest room was super comfortable. Plus, it was definitely cool to get to think our parents in a new context. I’m back out of our own again and thankful to be emschemed in our field once again. But I sure do miss that quality heating and air at our parents.
