It wasn’t fun having to travel every week over the past six months because of work commitments.

I thought that I would love the opportunity to travel for work when I was a broke college student, but now I wonder what I was wishing for and why I didn’t have more foresight.

Even though the pandemic has improved, it’s still stressful wondering how much exposure I get from potentially sick people around me in busy airports and in packed airplanes. Many of the people in my life between friends, family, and coworkers have quit worrying about getting sick. But they still end up missing work for a week to two weeks at a time while they must undergo mandatory quarantine if they fail a COVID test for any reason. I can’t help but wonder how much this process affects inflation and the supply-line crisis when you have the meat shortages happening precisely because they can’t keep the factories staffed with enough employees to maintain normal supply output from pre-pandemic conditions. So when I was told I could take a week off from traveling and work from home, I was happy for the break. Best of all, this coincided with our gradual transition from spring into summer. We had a long spring season this year that allowed me to keep the air conditioner off until early June. The weather was just so cold during March, April, and May that there was no need for air conditioning. Many days I was wearing a light jacket out of the house just to stay warm amid the unexpected lingering cold snaps.
