When you work at a hardware store, like I do, you don’t typically run into particularly unusual events.
That’s rather the way I like it, to be honest.
Things kind of go the way you would expect. You get to meet all sorts of interesting people as the customers come in and discuss home improvement projects with you, among other things. I rather like the job because of that. I also get quite a lot of exercise as I run around the store completing various tasks. However, recently, something strange happened concerning the air filters that we sell. Namely, within one single day, the entirety of our air filter stock disappeared! Nobody stole the entire supply and made off with it, mind you, it’s just that it all sold all at once. Everybody and their grandma seemed to suddenly need air filters for their HVAC systems. It was a very strange sight to see air filters in nearly every single person’s shopping cart all at once. At the end of the day, we discovered that we had no air filters left! I had to make calls to ensure that our stock was resupplied as quickly as possible. I was discussing with a manager the possibility of putting the next round of air filters on sale so that they would sell even faster. I wasn’t sure whether or not the air filter frenzy would happen all over again, but just in case, I purchased some for myself because my HVAC system actually needed it.
