I’ve got to tell you, I’m getting a bit worried at this point about the state of the world.

I know that I am not the only one who feels that way.

It seems like you can’t possibly turn on the TV or open your social media without being inundated with political screaming and doomsday prophecies. I have to admit, I have started to buy into some of the terrifying hype recently. I am not very confident going into this election season and I am getting rather worried about how I’m going to survive the winter. Not only do I foresee a lot of political unrest, the continuation of this pandemic, and dangerous social movements increasing in strength… But my heating and cooling system is concerning me too. I suppose I was rather lucky this past summer because I was able to cut down my heating and cooling usage considerably. For the entire warm-season I was staying in the basement, where it is inherently cooler and more comfortable. I really enjoyed sleeping in the ice cold climate without needing to operate my air conditioning unit 24/7. Unfortunately, this plan does not work well for the winter season. Now, it is far too cold in my basement dwelling and I’m worried that my heating expenses are going to overwhelm my monthly budgeting. I can no longer rely on the inherent temperature of the basements, because it is ice cold. Everyday I feel like I’m not judging the thermostat up a few degrees higher and relying on the forced air furnace a little more intensively. As if there wasn’t enough to worry about this year, now my energy bills might put me in the grave before COVID.
