We used to love driving across the country to visit different family members when I was growing up.
We would do this in the summer season when we would get off from school.
Sometimes our mother would even check us out of school early so that we could go on these road trips. The trips were always exciting, but the problem is that we had this really old van that always had issues with the climate control system and issues with overheating. We actually broke down a bunch of times on the side of the highway, and those experiences were never fun. I always knew that we were going to be okay, but we had been through some crazy experiences. We would often go to various campgrounds when driving across the country. The campgrounds were always fun and we visited some very beautiful places. My favorite thing was always relaxing around the fireplace while eating our dinner. We would roast marshmallows and make s’mores which were absolutely delicious. I never minded driving in the van, but it always annoyed me when the A/C system would break down. When that happened, we had to just roll the windows down and that was our makeshift cooling system. We would always be thankful when we would arrive at various family members’ homes because they usually had good climate control and it was nice to visit. I think my favorite was my grandparents’ home because they had a wonderful fireplace that we enjoyed, and they had a climate control system that was always on point.
