I went to my boss and explained my concerns.

When I was in high school, I was extremely involved in organized sports. I ran cross-country in the fall, track in the spring and played basketball over the winter. I also was part of a volleyball team that travelled across the state for games and tournaments. I was constantly active and never needed to worry about what types of food I ate. In college, I continued to play volleyball and our practices were frequent and strenuous. We did a lot of cardio exercises and strength training. Once I graduated from college and joined the workforce, my life became a lot more sedentary. I work an office job that is handled mostly online. I spend the majority of my day sitting at a desk, staring at a monitor and typing on a keyboard. It didn’t take long for me to notice weight gain and aches and pains. I started having trouble with my neck, shoulders, back and hips. I complained about tennis elbow and carpal tunnel syndrome. The soreness made it difficult to sleep at night and get comfortable in my chair at my desk. I was constantly tired, and my productivity suffered. I started getting depressed. I went to my boss and explained my concerns. He said that he’d been looking into setting up a corporate wellness program and asked if I’d spearhead the project. I was really excited to get everything set up and anxious to get back to a dedicated workout program. I reached out to a personal trainer in the area who specializes in corporate wellness and discussed options. The program has turned out to be super popular and successful, and I feel and look so much better.
