My sister called a couple of days ago because she was having trouble with the wood furnace in her home.
She called me, because I work in the heating industry.
I’ve been a contractor for the past five years. I install and repair all types of heating equipment including boilers, furnaces, space heaters, and radiant flooring. When my sister called with the furnace trouble, I was happy to lend a helping hand. I was pretty busy with other heating repair jobs that day, but I told my sister I would come over to look at the furnace as soon as work was over. She prepared a nice meal with all of my favorite items. I stopped for a six-pack of beer on my way to the house. I was done with two beers before I arrived. I decided to wait on a third beer until I could have a chance to evaluate and investigate the problems with the furnace. It was starting to get dark by the time I arrived, but I grabbed my best flashlight and headed outside to look at the wood furnace. After evaluating the situation, I realized that my sister needed a new thermostat for the furnace. I didn’t have that part with me, but I knew we had one at the workshop. I told my sister that I wouldn’t be able to fix the problem until the morning, but I gave her a couple of space heaters to put in the house overnight. I had three in my work truck and I set them all up in the living room and bedroom.
