Ever since we moved to a new school district, my kids are never satisfied with what they have.

A lot of the parents in this district have tons of money and my family does not. We moved to the area because my husband got a job working for the school district. The kids get to attend for free. They are receiving a world class education that some parents pay $45,000/year for their kids to receive. Still, the kids just complain about the fact that we don’t have fancy cars and expensive toys like remote control planes and drones. Last Saturday, I finally had enough of the complaining and whining. The kids were fuzzy because we went to the mall and I wanted to shop at the outlet store. They were terrified to be seen with me shopping for pants, shirts, and socks. At first, I thought the kids were overreacting, but they flat out refused to get out of the car and go into the outlet mall. I drove straight back home and told the kids that I’ve had enough. As soon as we entered the house, I turned off the AC. It was warm outside and the kids didn’t deserve the amenity of cold while they were acting like spoiled jerks. I reminded the kids that poor people can’t afford luxuries like AC and heat. We spent the entire afternoon without AC. I wasn’t going to cave before the kids. When they finally begged me to turn on the air conditioner, I had a list of demands.
