My husband thinks that he is the world’s greatest bargain hunter. Most of the time it doesn’t bother me, but once in a while it really gets on my nerves. Sometimes I just wish that he would pay full price for things without having to have a huge issue about it. Sure, I like to save money on things like plumbing repairs, electrical work, and heating and cooling repairs and maintenance, but my husband is nearly fanatical about the whole thing when it comes to upkeep on our home. Last year, during the summer, we went for almost an entire month without any central air conditioning at all because my husband was determined that he was going to get the best deal. Meanwhile, I was sweating and uncomfortable in my own house for weeks at a time while he prowled through the salespapers and the online community pages to try and find an air conditioning repair sale. It was so annoying to me that I was ready to just throw something at him! Of course, violence is never the answer and I didn’t throw anything at him after all. But we did end up having a very long conversation about the importance of central air conditioning during the summer and how this year I will definitely have my A/C whether he finds a good deal or not. I’m definitely never going to go through a summer like that again. He can save money on something else. The A/C is just too important to worry about it in my opinion.
