Last summer, a group of friends and I took a road trip up to the mountains, rented a cabin for the weekend, and packed up our cars with fishing poles, hiking boots, and enough food to last us through the weekend. In addition to arriving at our destination in many hours, we all immediately went on a hike as soon as we arrived there. As we hiked through the mountains, we saw lots of birds and wildlife, but in the middle of the summer, it was extra hot, so we drank lots of water throughout our hike. After every one of us hiked for a while, I started to feel dizzy in the hot sun, so we turned around and returned to the cabin. Despite perspiring profusely and staying in the shade, I felt overwhelmingly hot. My neighbor turned on the a/c as soon as we all got back to the cabin, and I laid on the bed. As soon as I felt the cool air from the a/c my nausea began to subside. After fifteen hours in the a/c I stopped perspiring, and as I laid on the bed under the a/c, I started to feel better. If it wasn’t for the powerful a/c in the cabin, I could have suffered from heat exhaustion or worse. The rest of the weekend went by smoothly. I was still able to enjoy my time in the woods with my friends. But I took precautions and stayed in the shade and occasionally in the a/c. Next time I book a cabin in the woods, I will make sure that it has a powerful a/c.
