I was called in for an interview at the local HVAC company.
- I had put applications in for every HVAC company in a ten-mile radius of where I lived.
When I got called to come in for an interview, I forgot to ask for their address. I had the name of the HVAC company, but that wasn’t enough to find my way there. I stopped and asked someone at the HVAC company nearest to my home if they could give me directions to the local HVAC company. I gave them the name of the HVAC company and he said he had never heard of them. I couldn’t believe he was being honest. I ended up talking to someone else who was parked at the grocery store. He was in an HVAC service van. He chuckled and said that he didn’t know that name, but there was an HVAC company about two blocks from there. I looked around, realizing the HVAC company he was referring had been the one I had just come from. OK. So maybe I had written the wrong name down. I walked into the HVAC company, gave them my name and told them I had been called for an interview. The owner came out and greeted me with a smile. He apologized and said he didn’t recognize me, but he was sure he had given me a business card. When I showed it to him, it was the business card for the local HVAC company in his home town. He apologized and told me that company was owned by his son.
