When should I replace my HVAC unit? I have absolutely no idea how to know when I should replace my HVAC unit, and I think that it might be important information to know.

I own my own house now, and that means that I am totally responsible for the HVAC units.

If the HVAC units break down, I have to call the HVAC technician to have the HVAC units repaired. This is the first house that I have ever owned. Before this house, I rented, and that meant that the landlord was responsible for any HVAC units. If the HVAC units were not working properly, I simply contacted the landlord, and the landlord was responsible for calling an HVAC technician. Now, I know that it is my responsibility, and I want to take that responsibility very seriously. When I bought the house, the furnace and the central air conditioner were not new. The HVAC units are definitely not old, but I know that I am going to have to replace the HVAC units before a decade passes. The reason that I want to know when I should replace my HVAC units is that I want to prepare for that time. Are there any warning signs that I should look for concerning my HVAC units that let me know that I only have a few more years left in my HVAC units? If I could figure that out, I could start saving money immediately and be prepared to replace my HVAC units when the time comes. I guess that I could always ask the HVAC technician to keep me informed about those things.
