The air quality outside is poor, and I’ve been getting respiratory infections if I sleep without running my central cooling system alongside a humidifier.

I’ve lived in a rural area for most of my life, and had few health problems during that time. I was lucky to have a big backyard to play in, lots of animals, and the ability to go run around in nature preserves and open fields. Then a few years ago I moved to the city for a new job, and was immediately aware of all the unfortunate problems that come along with the crowded environment. I can’t get away from humans no matter how hard I try, and even worse, I seem to be affected by all the air pollution. I’ve been feeling trapped by my HVAC unit, like I have to be running it 24/7 rather than being able to open a window. The air quality outside is poor, and I’ve been getting respiratory infections if I sleep without running my central cooling system alongside a humidifier. I didn’t understand what the difference could be, until a friend reminded me that most AC units are equipped with some sort of air filter inside. This measly filter was protecting me to some degree from the harmful air pollutants outside! It became obvious then that I would have to modify my HVAC unit entirely to increase the air filtration. I contacted my local heating and cooling company, and they quickly educated me on complementary filtration systems which work in concert with your existing ventilation system by passing the air through an additional set of porous air filters! I’m having the filtration system installed next week, and I can’t wait to breathe easy again.
