I really don’t think that I’m much of a prude.
However, there are times when I do expect a bit of privacy in order to do my own private things.
I’m sure everybody on the planet feels the same way. That’s why I am less than happy with my current living situation in this historical home that has been broken up into several apartments. It’s really a gorgeous house, but living so close to other people is not my favorite thing. Especially, considering that we share one set of air ductwork that extends through the entire house. That also means that we only have one central heating, cooling, and air quality control system that is supposed to keep everybody equally comfortable. Of course, I think that’s a stupid idea. When you consider the fact that a house is going to have multiple rooms with different Windows, Doors, and levels of insulation… It becomes pretty clear that you aren’t going to have accurate temperature control through one centralized system for every tenant. Still, we make do with the lack of temperature control as best as we can. The problem that really bothers me in? It’s the air duct work that we all share. Because we have one set of metal channels running through the house connected by air vents, it is very easy to hear the movements of every tenant in the house. This means, all of my neighbors can hear me through the air vents, as well. Every time my creepy neighbor makes a comment about my company last night, I want to plug my air vents forever.
